I found this course, Core456 The Digital Revolution, to be extremely interesting and insightful, as it taught me about concepts I have not really learned before. Coming into this class, I knew very little about how technology works as well as the factors that make up analog and digital representation. Throughout this semester, I learned that something digital operates through a fixed set of values or possibilities while analog is continuous and have exact values. I found it very interesting to see this concept applied to objects and ideas that were not traditional technological devices, such as writing, music notes, and paintings. Additionally, I was very intrigued by the classes discussing how sound is digitalized, specifically how cell phones are able to transmit the sound of our voices across long distances. It is such a normalized part of society that most people rarely think about, but I found it fascinating to see how humans were able to develop that kind of technology. Also doing the demonstration made me think more about AI being integrated in my field of interest, law, and how it can be used to efficiently do legal tasks but also being mindful of its limitations. Another topic that I found interesting was learning about our senses and the brain, and how our view of reality is in a sense distorted because our brain can only process enough information to keep us alive and will often fill in gaps of information. Overall, this was a course that will stick with me for a long time because it was completely different from any other class I have taken at Roger Williams University.
